Come, let us sing for joy to the LORD;  let us shout aloud to the Rock of our salvation.  Let us come to him with thanksgiving.  Let us sing psalms of praise to him.

Psalm 95:1-2

About Joyful Sound

Joyful Sound was formed in the summer of 2008 when four long-time friends decided to join together for the common purpose of singing barbershop harmonies.  With the first ringing chord, Joyful Sound set out on an exciting journey to share our talent with others.  In the weeks and months that followed, it became evident that we all felt a pull toward gospel music.  We truly believe that God orchestrated the formation of the quartet.  2015 brought changes as Marilyn Hanna, our one-and-only bass, retired.  Shaken but not deterred we prayerfully considered our options.  After singing for a year as a trio we again felt God's leading to find a bass, and in  summer 2016 we added Sharon "Sha" Hudgens to the mix. We fully believe that God continues to guide our steps by providing opportunities for us to share the gospel of Jesus Christ through music.  If you have a church that needs special music, please consider contacting us.

We are members of the Gospel Music Artist Association and are honored to have been nominated for the 2014 Group of the Year.  The members of Joyful Sound have been singing in and around the DFW area for over 15 years.

Lee Tayon

Lee Tayon adds the high notes as the tenor of Joyful Sound.  She has been singing all of her life in school and church choirs, as well as various other gospel groups.  She is an active member of leeSweet Adeline's International and the Lone Star Chorus.  She is a certified director and has many years of quartet experience resulting in regional medals and numerous top 10 finishes.  She considers her voice a gift from God and uses it whenever possible to the glory of her Lord and Savior.  Lee is the proud mother of two grown children and their wonderful spouses, Memaw to a handsome grandson, and a beautiful granddaughter, and the wife to her best friend Rodney, of over 30 years.  When not singing, she enjoys all types of crafting and recently retired after 27 years as an Executive Assistant at the University of North Texas Health Science Center.

Becky Loveday

Joyful Sound lead, Becky Loveday, is the oldest daughter of Pastor Sam O'Toole & his wife, becky 3Gloria. Becky's singing foundation was firmly rooted in Southern gospel where she sang in many church choirs, trio's and gospel quartets. Becky's love of singing harmony led her to find Lone Star Chorus and the barbershop craft which she has enjoyed singing for more than 18 years. Her  joy of singing resulted in her receiving a third place quartet medal at the regional level. Becky currently serves as Musical Director for Lone Star Chorus. She has one son, Rex, and his beautiful wife Tasha.  She loves spending time with her grandchildren:  Phoenix, Olivia, and Landon.  Becky currently works as a bookkeeper and completed a personal goal of obtaining her  Associates Degree in Accounting in 2010.  Becky is grateful for the wonderful heritage that has given her such a wonderful and strong foundation upon which to live. She knows her voice is a gift from God and has dedicated its use to share His love through music with people all over the world.

Trudie Case

Trudie Case, baritone of Joyful Sound, began her singing career in church with her mom, dad, and sisters.  Her dad was never without a song, and her Mom made the piano sing.  Both parentsbio1 encouraged them to sing the great old hymns.  Concert Choir in school was the next step, and then her love of harmony brought her to Sweet Adelines International  where she began her barbershop career in 1984 with Skyline Chorus in Denver, Colorado.  She has considerable quartet experience, having earned a 4th place regional medal as well as an award for Most Improved Quartet in 2003.  Trudie currently serves as a member of the Music Staff of Lone Star Chorus.  Besides her obvious vocal talents, she is an accomplished seamstress, embroiderer, quilt maker, and business owner.

Sharon "Sha" Hudgens

Joyful Sound welcomed bass, Sha Hudgens in summer 2016.  Sha is the 6th of six children and grew up singing silly songs with her mom. In high school and college, she sang in both the shaconcert and show choirs.  After moving around the country, she graduated high school in Corpus Christi.  When her family moved to Florida soon after, she decided she never wanted to leave Texas and sayed behind to attend college.  She moved to the Dallas/Fort Worth area and now works as an engineer for Texas Instruments.  Sha is a lifetime member of Sweet Adelines Intl. and sings with Lone Star Chorus where she is actively involved in leadership.  Sha has always loved attending church, but it wasn't until her senior year in high school that she was truly saved.  When she has time between singing and work, she quilts and occasionally finds time to cook a meal or two for her beloved husband, Steve.
